Advice for arranging a Corporate Golf Day

A corporate golf day is a great way to reward employees for a job well done, and a good choice for a memorable team building event. Combing exercise and fresh air with friendly competition, it’s the perfect way to get your team members out, active and having fun.

If you’re thinking of holding a corporate golf day, or if you’re looking for an original idea for your next company day out, take a look at our top tips for planning a day on the fairway.

Choose your date well in advance

In order to ensure as many of your team can attend the event as possible, make sure you choose the date for your corporate golf day well in advance. The more notice you give the members of your team, the easier it will be for them to arrange their home or work schedule and make the date work.

Choose a venue that’s easy to access

Think about how your participants will be travelling to the event. If most will be driving, select a venue that has adequate parking for all attendees. If a large percentage of your team will be travelling via public transport, choose somewhere that’s easy to access by bus or by train. Alternatively, if you want all attendees to be able to relax and have a good time, you could consider organising a bus to the event.

Arrange catering

After a few hours on the golf course, your team is likely to be getting hungry. Choose a venue that has in house catering facilities, and your team will be able to sit down to a slap up meal before heading home or returning to the fairway. Make sure you organise the catering well in advance to ensure the kitchen has plenty of time to prepare.

Ask participants to dress for all weathers

With good weather never guaranteed in the UK, it’s important that the attendees at your corporate golf day are prepared for all weathers. If you want to give your team something to remember the day by, you could invest in branded umbrellas or caps to protect them from the elements as they make their way around the course.

Offer a few practice sessions before the main event

If there are people in your team who have never played golf before, it might be worth arranging a few practice sessions before the main event. These sessions could take place in the weeks leading up to the corporate golf day or just before the event itself. Either way, practice sessions are a great opportunity for novice golfers to get a feel for the clubs and practice their swing.
